A Working Windmill, 18th century Jamaica

Ruins of old windmills can still be seen on estates in Jamaica. The windmills were used to grind sugar cane. This is a print of a working windmill, as they appeared in the 18th or early 19th century. The cane arrived on carts drawn by oxen or mules. There are piles of cane in the foreground. Some workers are taking bundles of cane up the steps to the mill.
